FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 1, 2025) – After nearly a two week break from competition, the Northern Arizona men's and women's track and field team is preparing for its final regular season meet of the season.
The Lumberjacks will make the trek down to Tucson, Ariz., for the Desert Heat Classic on Saturday, May 3. The meet is hosted by the University of Arizona and live stats are available

NAU was last in action in California towards the end of April, splitting time between four different meets over four days. The action was highlighted by 16 new all-time top ten marks including two Big Sky Conference records from
Maggi Congdon. Congdon started the weekend by breaking Angela Chalmers' 37-year-old record in the 800-meters, crossing the line in 2:00.27. Two days later, she broke her own record in the 1,500-meters.
Congdon earned Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors for her achievements, along with
Drew Bosley and
Desmond Lott. Bosley ran the fifth fastest-time in program history in the 5,000-meters (13:17.06) and Lott moved up to fifth on the all-time list in the hammer throw with a mark of 64.93-meters.
This week, NAU will look to put up big marks to move them up on the Big Sky and NCAA West Region performance lists. The Big Sky Championships are held from May 14-17 in Sacramento, Calif., hosted by Sacramento State.
Heading into the weekend, the following athletes rank in the top five of their respective events in the Big Sky.
LiNay Perry (1
st, 52.77) and
Kyairra Reigh (2
nd, 53.16) lead the way in the 400-meters, with Perry also owning the top time in the 400-meter hurdles (58.72) and Reigh ranking second in the 200-meters (23.76).
Shanye Harris is fourth in the 100-meters (11.71).
Also in the hurdles,
Sydnie Watkins ranks fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.93), while
Josiah Johnson leads the conference in the 400-meter hurdles (51.13) and ranks fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.42). Rounding out the hurdlers is
Tyson Givens who is fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.13) and third in the 400-meter hurdles (53.03) along with
Nicolas Martinez who has the fifth-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles (53.55).
For the men's sprints,
Khamis Hassan is second in the 100-meters (10.47) while
Lamar Smith is fifth (10.55).
Kyle Smith has the fifth-fastest time in the 200-meters (21.27).
The distance runners continue to dominate on the track. On the women's side, Congdon leads the way in the 800-meter and the 1,500-meters.
Odessa Zentz has the second fastest time in the 800-meters (2:06.75) and
Keira Moore has the second fastest time in the 1,500 (4:18.01).
In the men's 5,000-meters and 10,000-meters, the top five spots are occupied by Lumberjacks. In addition to Bosley owning the top spot in the 5,000-meters,
David Mullarkey ranks second in the 5,000-meters (13:29.55) and leads the way in the 10,000-meters (27:41.80). Bosley is right behind Mullarkey in the 10k (27:53.48).
Santiago Prosser (5k: 3
rd, 13:35.94 and 10k: 4
th, 28:22.14) along with
Justin Keyes (5k: 4
th, 13:37.69 and 10k, 3
rd, 28:20.85) also rank in the top five in both races.
Karrie Baloga is the conference leader in both the 5,000-meters (15:24.38) and steeplechase (9:44.09) while
Elise Stearns (1
st, 32:33.18) and
Alexis Kebbe (33:55.75) own the top two spots in the 10,000-meters.
Jeret Gillingham ranks second in the men's steeplechase with a time of 8:32.00.
In the field events, Lott leads the way in the hammer throw while ranking second in the shot put (17.68m) and discus (55.56m).
Sariyah Horne-Kemp is first in the hammer throw (59.02m) and third in the discus (48.18m).
Clay Carbajal (64.60m) and
Trevor Hook (64.31m) rank third and fourth in the javelin throw.
For the jumps,
Ian Lipsey has a season best of 7.33m that is second in the long jump followed by
Malachi Marshall who is fourth (7.17m).
Sirr Butler has the fourth-best mark in the triple jump at 14.49m.
