FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Sept. 4, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team will travel east to Albuquerque, N.M., for its first tournament of the 2025-26 season. The Lumberjacks will compete in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, hosted by New Mexico, from Sept. 8-9.
The tournament will take place at the UNM Championship Course, a par-72 layout measuring 6,354 yards. The Lumberjacks will play 36 holes on Monday and wrap up with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday.
"We are very excited for the tournament," head coach Brad Bedortha said. "The team has had a couple of good weeks of practice and qualifying, and I believe that we have a great team."
At last year's tournament, NAU finished seventh out of 15 teams, shooting a total of 892 (+28). Amy Hodgkins and Lizzie Neale both tied for 19th on the individual leaderboard, finishing at +6 over the three rounds. Long Beach State claimed the team title with a final score of 863 (-1).
This year's field includes: New Mexico, BYU, Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Fresno State, Long Beach State, Mercer, Montana State, Sacramento State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, UNLV, UTEP, and Washington State.
"It's a great tournament with some really good schools competing, and I'm excited to see how we'll play," Bedortha added. "Playing there last year helps us know the golf course and what to expect."
There will be a 6:30 a.m. Mountain Standard Time shotgun start on both days. Live scoring will be available via the Clippd Scoreboard.
In two weeks, Northern Arizona will head to Vail, Colo., for the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from Sept. 22-24. To conclude the fall semester, the 'Jacks will return to New Mexico for the NMSU Golf Iconic Classic (Oct. 13-15) and then host their annual tournament, The Clash at Boulder Creek, from Oct. 27-28 in Boulder City, Nev.
