PHARR, Texas (February 27, 2026)Â -Â With only one more day of competition remaining at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Conference Championships, the Northern Arizona women's swimming and diving team leads by 117 points with a total of 912. The next closest competitor is New Mexico State with 795.
After a full morning of preliminary competition, the Lumberjacks headed into the afternoon with nine "A" finalists, seven "B" finalists and two "C" finalists.
The afternoon session began strong, with Kaci Kelaher becoming the 2026 MPSF 100-yard butterfly champion. The sophomore from Tucson, Ariz., touched first with a time of 53.74, securing the gold by 0.01 seconds. Her time moves her into second place on NAU's all-time performance list. Elsa Musselman holds the current record at 53.16, recorded in March 2024.
Also in the "A" final, Beezer Geer clocked a 54.37 for fifth, while Musselman took seventh with a 55.02.
Isahbel Krast won the "B" final with a time of 54.47, and Gracie Munk tied for 11th with a 55.25. Katarina Klatt rounded out the final with a 56.40.
Allie Hayes competed in the "A" final of the 400-yard individual medley and posted a 4:25.03 to finish eighth. Freshman Summer Ferguson placed 12th overall with a 4:26.08 in the "B" final.
NAU was represented by Evalotta Aabrams in the 200-yard freestyle "A" final, where she finished in 1:49.65, just shy of a podium result in fourth. Rosie Keith swam a 1:51.57 for 13th overall, and Teddy Sabev posted a 1:52.87 for 18th.
The 'Jacks had three "A" finalists in the 100-yard breaststroke. Senior Cydnie Perkins earned silver with a strong 1:01.75. Northern Colorado's Maria Erokhina touched first in 59.96, setting a new MPSF and pool record.
Trelise Dance finished fourth, just 0.10 seconds off the podium, with a time of 1:02.26, while Mariana Diaz-Ponce placed seventh in 1:03.26.
In the 100-yard breaststroke "B" final, Geer recorded a 1:04.16 for 11th, and Kokona Watanabe was 12th with a 1:04.27.
In the final individual event of the evening, the 100-yard backstroke, the championship final was tightly contested. Munk swam a 54.80 to finish fourth, with just 0.43 seconds separating the top four spots. Freshman Kat Richter finished with a 57.29 in the "C" final.
The 400-yard medley relay closed out the third day of the championship and resulted in another podium finish for the 'Jacks. NAU's team of Munk, Perkins, Kelaher and Watanabe finished in 3:40.42 to earn silver. Northern Colorado set a pool record with a time of 3:37.25.
The divers competed in the team exhibition event and earned silver thanks to Mackenna Stocker, Grace Wesche and Margaret Wesche. The senior trio swept the podium on the first day in the 1-meter event before Margaret Wesche earned another silver and Stocker took bronze in the 3-meter yesterday. The divers will compete in the platform event tomorrow.
Saturday's swimming preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. MST, with diving prelims to follow. A senior recognition ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. MST before the finals, which include the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, platform diving and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Northern Arizona will look to secure its first MPSF conference championship after a dominant 12-peat in the Western Athletic Conference.
