FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 7, 2026) - Northern Arizona closed out competition Saturday at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic with multiple Big Sky–leading performances and a strong showing across the sprints, relays, and field events inside the UNM Indoor Track & Field Facility.
The Lumberjacks delivered their biggest statement of the meet in the men's 400 meters, placing three athletes atop the Big Sky performance list. Sophomore Josiah Johnson led the way with a personal-best 47.21, which stands as the No. 1 mark in the conference this season. Sophomore Nicolas Martinez followed closely at 47.39, ranking second, while senior Luke Yruretagoyena clocked 47.51 to sit third. Freshman Jase Weingart added a personal-best 48.52, ranking 14th in the Big Sky.
Northern Arizona closed the meet with a third-place finish in the men's 4×400-meter relay, as Yruretagoyena, Johnson, Weingart, and Martinez combined for a time of 3:10.74. The performance stands as the fastest relay time in the Big Sky this indoor season.
Northern Arizona continued its strong weekend in Albuquerque during the women's 400 meters, highlighted by a personal-best performance from sophomore Jordann Germain. Germain clocked 55.39, establishing a new PR while moving into sixth on the Big Sky performance list this season. The effort added another conference-relevant mark for the Lumberjacks as they tested themselves against one of the deepest fields of the indoor season.
In the field events, junior Justin Cardoza led the Lumberjacks in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.26 meters, finishing 10th overall. Senior Malachi Marshall followed with a jump of 7.04 meters, while sophomore Shon Martin added a 6.97-meter effort. Cardoza also delivered a standout performance in the men's triple jump, placing third overall with a season-best 15.45 meters, which moves him to No. 4 on Northern Arizona's all-time indoor list and No. 2 in the Big Sky this season.
