FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 11, 2026) – Northern Arizona distance runner Agnes McTighe was named the Big Sky Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Monday following her performance at the Franson Last Chance in Azusa, Calif.
McTighe earned the honor after running 15:51.93 in the women's 5,000 meters in her racing debut this year, moving to No. 5 in the Big Sky this year. Her performance helped continue Northern Arizona's dominance in the event, as the Lumberjacks now hold the top seven spots in the conference this season in the women's 5,000 meters.
The award marks the final Big Sky Athlete of the Week honor of the 2026 outdoor regular season and adds to a strong spring campaign for the Lumberjacks heading into postseason competition.
This week, Northern Arizona heads to the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif. after already capturing the Big Sky women's cross country and indoor track & field team titles earlier this year. The Lumberjacks will look to continue that momentum into the outdoor postseason, with the women's team race expected to be one of the tightest competitions of the weekend.
