FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (May 7, 2026) – Northern Arizona will send a small group of distance runners back to Azusa on Friday, May 9, for the Franson Last Chance as the Lumberjacks make one final push toward NCAA West First Round qualifying marks before the Big Sky Outdoor Championships.
Competing in the 5,000 meters for NAU will be Agnes Mctighe, Cael Grotenhuis, Ethan Godsey, Kang Nyoak and Ali Upshaw, with a couple of those Lumberjacks expected to assist pacing duties throughout the evening.
Upshaw enters the meet after setting a new NAU school record in the women's 10,000 meters earlier this outdoor season with a time of 32:22.40.
Track events are scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. MST with the men's 5,000 meters running from slow to fast sections, followed by the women's 5,000 meters at 8:15 p.m. MST with races contested from fast to slow sections.
Weather conditions are expected to be favorable for fast marks and strong efforts as athletes across the country look to improve their regional standing ahead of the NCAA postseason. Â
