FARMINGTON, Utah (September 22, 2026) – For the second time this season, Northern Arizona soccer forward
Micala Boex has been named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning. The nod marks three straight weeks a Lumberjack has garnered a weekly laurel from the conference.
NAU extended its unbeaten streak to three games this past week, earning a 1-1 draw at Grand Canyon on Thursday and handling New Mexico State in a 2-0 win on Sunday. The Lumberjacks closed their non-conference portion of the year with a 4-4-2 record.
Against the Lopes, Boex scored the equalizer in the 74th minute, ripping an absolute rocket from well outside the box and over the outstretched hands of the GCU keeper. The native of Aurora, Colorado then followed that performance with a one goal, one assist effort against the Aggies. She has tallied a team-leading five goals on the season, and ranks tied for first in goals, first in shots per game (4.2), and third in points per game (1.10) in the conference.
With her scores last week, Boex also moved into the top 10 rankings of a few NAU career record categories. She now sits 10th in points (42), and eighth in goals (16).
Boex was previously named the Offensive Player of the Week by the conference on Sept. 8 after collecting her first career brace in a 3-0 win at Nevada on Sept. 3.
The Lumberjacks take a break from game action for the remainder of September and will open conference play by welcoming Eastern Washington to Flagstaff on Oct. 8. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
