LAS VEGAS, Nev. (October 12, 2018) – The Northern Arizona women's tennis notched five singles wins on Friday, none bigger than junior
Chiara Tomasetti's fourth round win to advance to the ITA Mountain Regional quarterfinals. Tomasetti, the fourth-seeded player in the tournament, will play for a spot in the regional semifinals on Saturday when action continues at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Tomasetti, along with senior
Hanneke Lodewijks, represented the Lumberjacks in the Round of 16 and advanced in the main draw with a near-perfect 6-1, 6-0 win over Colorado's Monica Malinen. Tomasetti will face Utah State's Alexandra Pisareva, the fifth-seed, in Saturday's quarterfinal.
Unfortunately, Lodewijks was knocked out of the main draw with a 6-1, 7-5, loss to Idaho's Marianna Petrei. Petrei, the three-time Big Sky Most Valuable Player, was the tournament's top overall seed and current No. 20 player in the country.

Eirene Granville, sophomore
Madi Moore and freshman
Adrianna Sosnowska – also picked up singles victories in the back draw. Granville defeated Southern Utah's Zoe Tanti, 6-1, 6-4, while Moore bested Utah State's Sidnee Lavatai, 6-3, 6-1. Sosnowska defeated Emily Tanner of Weber State, 6-1, 6-2.
Sophomore
Ellie Millard also earned a singles win, pulling out a three-set victory, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, over Boise State's Hanna Kantenwein.
Tomasetti and Lodewijks' run in the doubles main draw reached its end in the quarterfinal, but not before the second-seeded pair recorded an 8-6 win over Malinen and Markovic of Colorado. After their third round victory, Tomasetti and Lodewijks were bested by Utah's duo of Whitney Hekking and Leah Heimuli, 8-6.
Continuing their run in the doubles back draw bracket for NAU was Moore and Granville. The Lumberjack duo notched a 6-3 victory over Southern Utah's Tanti and Ghita Nassik.
Saturday's ITA Mountain Regional competition will begin at 9 a.m.
