SURPRISE, Ariz. (November 8, 2018) – Northern Arizona men's tennis team's ITA Fall National Championship came to an end after the pair of
Tim Handel and
Ruben Montano lost in the first round of the consolation bracket.
On Thursday the NAU tandem of Handel and Montano lost in two sets to the fourth seed of the tournament, Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert. In the first set, the 'Jacks duo lost 6-3 while in the second set they lost 6 -1. The loss marks both the end of the tournament but also the end of the fall season for Northern Arizona.
Although having an early exit, Handel and Montano showed their ability to compete with the top teams in the county during the ITA Fall National Championship. On Wednesday the two went toe-to-toe with Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiroof of Virginia Tech, the 12th ranked doubles team in the country as the NAU pair lost 7-5 and 7-5.
