Tulsa, Okla. (September 29, 2018) – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team saw one player move on in the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Entering the day the Lumberjacks had three members in the pre-qualifying stage.
The first match of the day was between
Facundo Tumosa and Buffalo's Vilhelm Fridell. Fridell was able to win in two sets, 6-1 and 7-5. Tumosa will now move into the consolation bracket where he will compete on Sunday.
The next 'Jack to compete was
Ruben Montano, who faced TCU's Eduardo Roldan. Unfortunately for Montana, he fell in two sets 6-4 and 6-0. Just like Tumosa, Montana will continue his ITA Men's All-American Championships in the consolation bracket.
The final NAU competitor to compete was
Lucas Taylor, who took on Georgia Southern's Murphy McCullough in the second round of the pre-qualifying stage. Taylor, because of his ranking, was able to get a first-round bye in the first round. In the second round, Taylor was able to beat McCullough in two sets, 7-5 and 7-5. He will now move on to the third round of this stage against Ohio State's Alex Kobelt at 7 a.m. MST.
