DENVER, Colo. (October 18, 2019) – Northern Arizona University men's tennis finished up day three at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, playing in the second consolation bracket and winning five out of seven matches played.
Two players won both matches they played in.
Chris Steele had his first match against Huyhn of Denver, winning in three sets, going 6-3, 2-6 and 10-3. In a second match against another Denver player, Zakowski, Steele won in two, 6-4 and 7-6(5).
Facundo Tumosa beat BYU's Tran in two easy sets, both: 6-3. In his second match, Tumosa went in three sets of 6-4, 6-7 and 10-7.
Eban Straker-Meads,
Alex Groves and
Daniel Dillon all played one singles match today. Straker-Meads played against Denver's Ros, winning in three sets. In his first set, he fell to Ros 4-6, but came back to win 6-2 and 10-6. Groves also won against New Mexico State's Buitrago, winning 6-4 in the first, but fell 6-7 in the second. He came back to win in the third, going all the way to 13-11. Dillon fell in his consolation match against Nevada's Dudockin in two sets: 3-6 and 6-7(6).
Tomorrow is the final day of the ITA Mountain Regional Championships. The Lumberjacks will play again tomorrow advancing to their next matches in their consolation bracket.
