Nina Radford was named the Big Sky Women's Basketball Ready Nutrition Player of the Week in a release by the conference office on Tuesday. Radford, a transfer from UC Santa Barbara, posted an all-around stat line in NAU's 88-80 home victory over Seattle last Saturday.
Radford recorded 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists against the Redhawks. She shot 6-for-11 from the field and was 2-of-5 from behind the arc and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Radford also was a team-best plus-17 while she was on the court.
Radford, in just her second game as a Lumberjack after redshirting last year, came up huge in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 of her 17 points. She scored nine straight points for NAU during a 9-2 run that turned a 70-69 deficit into a 78-72 lead that the 'Jacks would not relinquish. She was perfect from the field in the last quarter, shooting 3-for-3 from the field.
Through two games, Radford is averaging 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 43.5 percent from the field.
The NAU women's basketball team begins a stretch of four straight road games on Thursday at California Baptist at 12 p.m.
