FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 8, 2019) – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team will be taking on San Diego State University on Sunday, Feb. 11 in San Diego, Calif. This will be the Lumberjacks fourth match of the season, as they are currently 1-2.
"I am happy with the overall progress of our players, we are starting to understand what it takes to be a successful student-athlete," NAU head coach
Maciej Bogusz said.
Entering the Sunday matchup, the 'Jacks are coming off of a rough weekend where they went 0-2 against the University of Utah on Feb. 2. Despite falling in both matches, NAU's
Tim Handel was able to be the bright spot for the team. Handel went 3-0 on the weekend with two single wins, and one doubles win. Handel's biggest win on the weekend came against the No. 95 ranked singles player in the country Dan Little.
"We are looking to continue getting better at the small things we identified in the first couple of matches of the season, and we can't wait to compete again," Bogusz said.
Matchup
San Diego State University is currently 2-1 on the season, and riding a two-match winning streak. The Aztecs wins have come against UC Irvine and UC San Diego. The Sunday match against NAU will be SDSU second match of the weekend as they play Alabama on Friday, Feb. 8.
