Handel is 20-1 on the season

TEMPE, Ariz. (April 16, 2019) – The Northern Arizona men's tennis team's Tim Handel moved up to the No. 72 nationally ranked singles player in the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings.  This is the senior's highest ranking on the season, as he was ranked 80th overall on April 2.

"Tim had another great weekend winning four matches at no.1," NAU head coach Maciej Bogusz said.  "He is having a fantastic season and we are very proud of him and his new personal best national ranking."

Handel was first ranked this season on March 5, where he came in at No. 119 in the country.  Since then, Handel has fallen out of the Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings until he moved back into the rankings on April 2 at No. 80 in the country.

Handel is currently 20-1 on the season and riding a 14 match winning streak that started on March 2 against Southern Utah.  The 20 wins not only leads the Lumberjacks, but Handel also leads the Big Sky Conference. In doubles, Tim and his partner Ruben Montano are 14-5 on the season.  The steady play from Handel on the season at the No. 1 singles position has helped lead NAU to a record of 19-6 and 10-0 in the Big Sky.

The Northern Arizona men's tennis team will close out their 2018-2019 season on Saturday, April 20 against the University of California Irvine in Irvine, Calif.
