ORLANDO, Fla. (May 20, 2019) – Tim Handel's NCAA Division 1 Men's Singles Championship has come to an end after the senior fell to Ewan Moore of Tulane 6-4, 2-6, 2-6. Handel's appearance in the Singles Championship was the first time a Lumberjack has appeared in the event. The NCAA Division 1 Men's Singles Championship was made up of the top 64 singles players in the country and took place in Orlando, Fla.
Handel was able to start the match off by taking the first set 6-4. The German native wasn't able to close out the match as he ended up losing the final two sets 2-6 and 2-6. The loss marks the end of Handel's impressive Northern Arizona career.
Handel's loss also marks the end of a record breaking season for the 'Jacks as they were able to win the Big Sky Championship and advance to the NCAA Championship for the first time in program history. NAU also recorded its longest winning streak in the school's history, at 19.
