Chiara Tomasetti moved up 10 spots to No. 47. Tomasetti ended the fall season – and consequently began the spring – ranked No. 57 nationally.
Tomasetti owns an overall season record of 15-6, between the fall and spring season, and has posted three wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
In her first dual match of the season last month, Tomasetti posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over then-ranked No. 41 Ilze Hattingh of Arizona State. In the rankings released on Wednesday, Hatttingh is ranked No. 29.
Tomasetti has won two of her three matches – both against Pac-12 opponents – this spring after going 13-5 in the fall. At the Weinman Foundation Invitational in Hawaii, Tomasetti split her two matches against opponents from Washington State.
The Roesrath, Germany native continues to reset the highest singles ranking by a Lumberjack ever as she rises in the national rankings. She opened the fall 2019 season at No. 71 before moving up to No. 57 prior to Wednesday's release.
Tomasetti and the Lumberjacks will face Arizona on Friday at 3 p.m. in Tucson as they resume the spring season.
