SAN DIEGO, Calif. (November 6, 2021) - NAU's doubles duo Facundo Tumosa and Eban Straker-Meads wrote their names in the record books as the third doubles team in NAU history to get a bid to the ITA National Fall Championships. Tumosa and Straker-Meads suffered a first round loss to University of Texas doubles duo, Siem Woldeab and Eliot Spizzirri.
Woldeab and Spizzirri were ranked No.2 in the preseason rankings. The Lumberjacks played a tough match, while making their own chances in both the first set and the tie break. The NAU duo ultimately fell to the Texas doubles team, 6-7, 3-6.
Thursday night the pair moved to the consolation bracket where they faced Ohio State's duo, Justin Boulais and James Trotter. Boulais and Trotter were seeded at No.2 coming into the tournament. NAU's duo of Straker-Meads and Tumosa fell to Ohio State, 6-1, 6-3.
With the ITA National Fall Championships wrapping up for NAU, the fall slate comes to an end. The 'Jacks will now prepare for a full Spring season of competition, while sights are set on another Big Sky Championship season.
