NAU XC Travels to Madison for Final Regular-Season Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona University Cross Country teams hit the road once again as they close out the regular season at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.

This will be the Lumberjacks first trip to Madison since 2019, when the men took first place and the women placed sixth. The men have won the meet the past four times they have ran at Nuttycombe. Their score of 46 points during the 2018 win was the lowest point total at the meet since 2010.

The Nuttycombe Invitational is hosted by the Wisconsin Badgers and will feature a women's 6K race as well as a men's 8K race. The women will race first beginning at 10:20 a.m. MST while the men will run at 11:00 a.m. MST. Live results for the meet can be found here.

The Jacks have not raced for three weeks since the Cowboy Jamboree, where the women placed second in their strongest team effort of the season. The team finished ahead of many Mountain Region competitors and top ranked national teams. Elise Stearns was the top finisher in that race, running a 20:29.5 to take fifth place and earn her first Big Sky Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award. Annika Reiss also had a strong performance, finishing sixth with a time of 20:32.5.

The men's team placed two runners in the top 10, finishing third overall in the team standings. Nico Young saw his second consecutive top-five finish at the Cowboy Jamboree, finishing fifth with a time of 23:20.8. Drew Bosley took ninth place with a time of 23:35.5. Neither Young nor Bosley have finished outside of the top-9 so far this season.

The men are currently ranked third in the country and will see seven of the other top-10 teams at this meet. The women shot up the rankings to number four after their second-place victory at the Cowboy Jamboree. Seven of the other top-10 women's teams will also be competing at the Nuttycombe Invitational.
