Lumberjack TF To Split Between Seattle & Albuquerque

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 10, 2022) - The Northern Arizona track and field program will once again split up on the road, with the distance squad heading to University of Washington for the Husky Classic and the remaining event groups traveling to University of New Mexico for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Live streams will respectively be provided for both meets as well on RunnerSpace and FloTrack.

DAY 1

Friday's competition will begin at 2 P.M. (MST) in Albuquerque with the men's 200-meter preliminaries, followed by the women's weight throw at 2:30 P.M. (MST), and eventually the women's 200m preliminary races at 2:55 P.M. (MST).

Lumberjacks David Dunlap (21.54@) and Erick Thompson Jr. (21.86@) respectively rank second and fifth on the Big Sky men's 200m season list, and will compete alongside teammates Kyle Smith (22.31@), Zachary Sutton, Alex Alton, and Ethan Seppala in the event. 

Shortly after, Jennifer Slater (17.60m), Kimberly Buchanan (17.49m), Carly Watts (16.21m), and McKenna Chaney (14.78m) will start the field events with the women's weight throw; Slater, Buchanan and Watts sequentially hold fourth, sixth, and ninth on the conference leaderboard so far this season. 

Meanwhile, Miracle Onyemaobi (25.50@), Kenashalee Kerr, Synfanie Crudder (25.28), LiNay Perry, Kenya Coburn, Alyssa Colbert (25.45@), Kyairra Reigh, Hannah Schmidt (25.97@), and Jyntry Rucker will prepare for the women's 200m preliminaries; Crudder's time currently ranks ninth in Big Sky. 

The day's schedule will then transition to Seattle, as the women's and men's 3000-meter runs will respectively take off at 4 P.M. (MST) and 5 P.M. (MST); event invitational rounds will be run later in the evening.

Anna Fenske (10:08.05@), Alexis Kebbe (9:59.84@), Annika Reiss and Elise Stearns are slated to compete for the NAU women while Corey Gorgas, Tristan Merchant and Ryan Raff will suit up for the men. 

Later, the field events will pick up at Don Kirby, with the men's weight throw at 5:30 P.M. (MST), the women's long jump and high jump at 3 P.M. (MST), and the men's long jump at 4 P.M. (MST). 

Half of the top-eight men's weight throw conference positions belong to the Lumberjack men, with Will Beaudry (20.11m) leading the pack at second, Jacob Kaufman (19.51m) in fourth, Jack Murphy (18.46m) in sixth, and Garret Bernt (18.45m) following in seventh; Jake Arnold and CJ McMullen (16.55m) will also compete. 

Meanwhile, the women's long jump will consist of Lily Margolis (5.33m), Kenashalee Kerr (5.38m), Courtney Weisenberger (5.41m), and Jenna Figueroa (5.29m); Madeline Wilson (1.63) will participate simultaneously in the women's high jump. 

Mitchell Effing (7.20m), Jack Normand, and Sirr Butler (6.51m) are scheduled to compete in the men's long jump as well; Effing currently sits at third in the Big Sky. 

Night one in New Mexico will ultimately come to a close with the men's and women's 400m, as Thompson Jr. (48.54@), Seppala (50.58@), and Alton respectively gear up for the men's race, and Onyemaobi (55.41@), Perry (58.20@), Schmidt (58.86@), and Wilson line up for the women; Onyemaobi sits atop the conference leaderboard in the event while Thompson Jr. ranks sixth. 

Day one of the Husky Classic will also conclude after the women's and men's 5K's at 6:15 P.M. and 7:15 P.M. and the respective invitational 3K's at 9:15 P.M. and 9:40 P.M..

Delaney Rasmussen and Jenna McCaffrey are entered in the women's 5K, as Aldo Marquez and Jack Shea are set for the men's; these athletes will record their first 5000-meter marks of the season. 

After, Taryn O'Neill will prepare for the invitational women's 3K, while Abdihamid Nur, Drew Bosley, and Nico Young get ready for the men's invitational 3000-meter run; this group will also record their first 3K times of the season.  

DAY 2

Watts (15.84m), Buchanan (13.10m) and Matilde Roe (13.70m) will open the day for the Lumberjacks with women's shot put at 9:30 A.M.; Watts holds first in the Big Sky, and Roe sits fifth this season. 

The women's and men's 60-meter dash will come after at 10:15 A.M. (MST) and 10:40 A.M. (MST) along with the women's and men's triple jump at 10:30 A.M. (MST).

Colbert (7.41@), Coburn (7.67@), and Crudder (7.65@) will set the track on the fire first, and Dunlap (6.73@), Smith (6.90@), and Sutton (6.94@), will only continue to add fuel; Colbert currently ranks first on the women's Big Sky season list while Crudder and Coburn sequentially hold seventh and eighth. Dunlap ranks second on the men's list as well. 

The afternoon in Albuquerque will include the men's shot put at 1 P.M. (MST) along with the men's and women's 4x400m relays at 2:10 P.M. (MST) and 2:30 P.M. (MST), while the women's and men's mile will respectively commence in Seattle at 1:40 P.M. (MST) and 2:50 P.M. (MST), and the women's 800m run at 3:45 P.M. (MST); invitational event rounds and event semifinals/finals will take place separately. 

Arnold (17.52m), Parker Bays (16.74m), Jake Tucker (15.71m), and Rudy Tapia (15.28m) will compete in the men's shot put; Arnold sits second in the Big Sky, as Bays follows in fourth this season. 

Meanwhile, Hannah Behunin, Jesselyn Bries, Stephanie Cotter, Cassi Land (4:58.26@), and Bryn Morley (4:45.51@) will prepare for the women's mile in Washington; Morley currently ranks fourth in the conference. 

Aiden Barnhill (4:11.56@), Caleb Easton, Randy Espinoza (4:13.18@), and George Kusche (4:07.80) will get ready for the men's mile as well; Theo Quax (4:02.67) will run in the men's invitational mile at 3:40 P.M. (MST). Quax's time holds seventh in the Big Sky so far this season.

Shortly after, Melanie Loff (2:08.08@), currently ranked first on the women's 800m Big Sky leaderboard, will run.
