NEW ORLEANS, La. (February 3, 2022) - On Thursday, the United States Track Field Cross Country Coaches Association announced that Northern Arizona freshman Nico Young has received votes for The Bowerman Men's Mid-Indoor Watch List.
The Bowerman, named after former Oregon coach Bill Bowerman, is presented annually by the USTFCCCA to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track & field athletes in the nation.
Last month, Young posted the best men's mile time of the season (3:54.07@) after running 4:02.89 in the NAU Skydome to not only the school record but the Big Sky record as well; he also ran sub-4 (3:56.00) at the UW Invitational last Friday.
Young also ran the third-fastest 5000-meter time this season (13:22.59) at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in early December.

Abdihamid Nur also previously received votes this season.Â
Since the Bowerman originated in 2009, three Lumberjack men have been named to the award watch list, including
Tyler Day (2020), David McNeill (2010) and Diego Estrada (2013).
