FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 22, 2022) - Northern Arizona Men's Tennis will split the schedule with one neutral match on the road and one home match this week.
The 'Jacks are heading back to Las Vegas for a neutral match against the University of Washington Huskies on Thursday. The match is set to start at 10 a.m. MST. Sunday morning, NAU returns to Flagstaff for a home conference matchup, facing the Idaho Vandals at 10 a.m. MST in the Aquatic and Tennis Complex.
Sophomore Maciej Ziomber leads the Lumberjacks with an overall singles record of 14-3, coming off a 4-0 week in California, sweeping both the University of the Pacific and Sacramento State in doubles and singles play.
Doubles duo Dominik Buzonics and Alex Groves lead the 'Jacks in overall doubles play with a 13-6 record, while remaining undefeated in Big Sky Conference play. The pairing have primarily played at the No. 2 position this season.
The team holds a 14-5 overall record through the season, with two conference wins under their belt before heading into the thick of Big Sky play in the next few weeks.
The Huskies are 11-4 through their season, coming off of a 4-0 win to the University of New Mexico Lobos. The team holds an ITA national ranking at No . 40 in Division I Men's Tennis.
Leading the Huskies in singles play is ITA nationally ranked No. 3 Clement Chidekh, who holds a 9-0 overall singles record in dual matches this season, primarily playing at the No .1 position. Chidekh and doubles pairing Nedim Suko lead the team in doubles play with an overall record of 9-1, while nationally ranked by the ITA at No. 34.
The Vandals are 4-10 through the season, coming off their first conference match loss to Weber State, dropping 3-4 in Ogden. Idaho was picked to finish the season fifth in the conference preseason poll, voted by the coaches
Idaho is led by Francisco Bascon who holds a 5-1 overall singles record, and is on a current win streak of four matches. Bascon and doubles partner Bruno Casino lead the team in doubles play, with a 5-5 record, primarily at the No. 1 position.
