FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 21, 2022) - NAU Men's Tennis is geared up to host the Idaho State Bengals on Saturday at the Aquatic and Tennis Complex, marking the final regular season match of the season.
The match is set to start at 10 a.m. MST. Prior to the start of the match, NAU will honor five of the programs graduating class and all their accomplishments as Lumberjacks.
The 'Jacks hold a season record of 17-8, earning a winning percentage of .680, while going 5-2 in Big Sky Conference play through the season. Coming off of a three match win streak, the 'Jacks are looking to continue their momentum, while building off of success found through the depth of the roster.
Junior Alex Groves continues to lead the 'Jacks in overall singles play with a 17-6 record, playing primarily at the No. 5 position. Sophomore Dominik Buzonics holds a four match win streak, highlighting a 15-9 overall singles record primarily playing at the No. 3 position.
Groves and Buzonics as a duo lead the team in overall doubles with an impressive 16-7 record, playing at the No. 2 position. Eban Straker-Meads and Facundo Tumosa have clinched their last four doubles matches, with an overall record of 12-7 at the No. 1 position.
The Bengals currently hold a 12-10 record through the season, marking a 4-3 conference slate ahead of Saturday's matchup. ISU is coming off a 2-5 loss to the University of Idaho.
Leading the Bengals, doubles pairing Aleksandar Petrovic and Patrik Trhac hold a record of 9-4 together, finding themselves No. 69 in the ITA national rankings this week. The duo suffered a loss to Idaho's Francisco Bascon and Bruno Casino in their last match.
