FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 6, 2022) – Northern Arizona will return to Tempe, for the third time this season, to compete at the Arizona State Sun Angel Classic; the three day meet (Thu. 12 P.M., Fri. 9:30 A.M., Sat. 10:30 A.M.) will feature Brown University, BYU, GCU, Iowa State, Kansas, UCLA, UTEP, and San Diego State. Live results will become available upon the start of the meet.
On Thursday, Madeline Wilson will open for the Lumberjacks, as she begins the women's heptathlon at 12 P.M. (PT) with the 100-meter hurdles, followed by the high jump at 12:45 P.M., the shot put at 2:30 P.M., and the 200-meter at 4 P.M.; the women's heptathlon will be continued Friday at 5 P.M. with the long jump, followed by the javelin at 7 P.M., and the 800-meter run at 8:15 P.M. (PT).
Friday's field events will consist of the men and women's hammer throw (9:30 A.M.), high jump (12 P.M.), discus (2:30 P.M.) and women's pole vault (5:30 P.M.).
McKenna Chaney, Kimberly Buchanan, Will Beaudry, Jack Murphy, Jacob Kaufman, Parker Bays, Blake Baloun, and Cole White will respectively compete in the hammer throw, while Beaudry, Garrent Bernt, Jake Arnold, Jay Nielsen, CJ McMullen, Carly Watts and Matilde Roe throw the discus; Jack Normand will compete in the men's high jump and Joelle Santiago is scheduled to pole vault.
The track events will begin at 5:30 P.M. (PT) with Marissa Milos, The Givens Twins, Wil Peralta, and Karsen Burke in the women's and men's 100 and 110-meter hurdle preliminaries.
Then, Alyssa Colbert, Miracle Onyemaobi, LiNay Perry, Synfanie Crudder, Kyairra Reigh, Kenya Coburn, David Dunlap, Erick Thompson Jr., Zachary Sutton, Kyle Smith, and Matthew Roma will compete in the women's and men's 200-meter dash.
The last evening event on the track for the Lumberjacks, aside from the heptathlon 800-meter, is the women's 3,000-meter run; Delaney Rasmussen, Hannah Behunin, Pipi Eitel, Chloe Painter, Abby Riordan, Emma Sjolund, and Luna Slater will open their outdoor seasons alongside teammate Anna Fenske.
Saturday's events will begin at 10:30 A.M. (PT) with the women's and men's long jump and triple jump as Lily Margolis, Jenna Figueroa, Kenashalee Kerr, Courtney Weisenberger, Mitchell Effing, Cameron Peters, Sirr Butler, Ian Lipsey, Joshua Bennett, Royal Miller IV, and Normand respectively compete; Dominick Singer will also pole vault at 5:30 P.M. (PT).
As for the throwing events Trevor Hook, Clayton Zupke, Jade Kwinn and Piper Pfister will participate in the men's and women's javelin starting at 12:30 P.M. (PT), while Watts, Buchanan, Arnold, Baloun, Bays, Bernt, Tapia, White and Jake Tucker respectively throw the women's and men's shot put beginning at 1 P.M. (PT).
The track will get started at 5:30 P.M. (PT) with the 4x100-meter relays, followed by the 100 and 110-meter hurdle finals at 6:10 P.M. (PT)
Sprints will kick off with Onyemaobi, Perry, Hannah Schmidt, Dunlap and Thompson Jr. in the women's and men's 400-meter at 6:45 P.M. (PT), while Colbert, Crudder, Kenya Coburn, Jaliyah Berkley, Dunlap, Smith, Sutton, Lipsey, Bennett, and Roma prepare for the women's and men's 100-meter dash at 7:25 P.M. (PT).
Later, Melanie Loff and Riley Human will round the track in the women's and men's 800-meter at 8 P.M. (PT), Marissa Milos, Alex Alton, Tyson Givens, Ethan Seppala, Zach Schroeder, Peralta and Burke will get geared up for the women's and men's 400-meter hurdles, and Behunin, Eitel Rasmussen, and Merchant will compete in the women's and men's 1500-meter race; the meet will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays.
