FARMINGTON, Utah (October 26, 2023) – With the highest number of wins in a season since the 2018 season, the Lumberjacks also closed out the regular season with seven Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors as the team prepares for the upcoming Big Sky Championships in Flagstaff.
After earning all-conference accolades all four seasons at Montana,
Allie Larsen saved her best act for last after earning first team honors alongside her Big Sky Defensive MVP award as announced earlier Thursday morning. Larsen had been named honorable mention her freshman and junior seasons at Montana, while being named second team all-conference her sophomore and senior seasons.
Larsen is the only player to make all 17 starts for the Jacks this season, while being one of just three field players to record 1,300 plus minutes in the regular season. In addition to her defensive efforts, the Louisville, Colorado native is tied for second on the team in points with seven total, coming from two goals and three assists on the season.
Maddie Shafer sits alongside Larsen on the conference's first team all-conference as the Flagstaff native leads the team in points with five goals and two assists on the season. Three of Shafer's five goals came against Big Sky opponents, scoring one against Idaho State and two against Northern Colorado.
The honors come in for the second-straight season as Shafer earned first team accolades in 2022 after Shafer led the team in assists and points. Shafer has made fourteen starts for the Lumberjacks this season all while leading the team in game-winning goals with three and holding a SOG% of .421.
Trinity Corcoran earned her second-straight Big Sky all-conference honors as well, as the junior keeper was named to the conference's second team. Corcoran has recorded five shutouts, four solo, in a team-high 1,127 minutes in goal for the Lumberjacks. Corcoran's goals against average ranks second in the conference while her .833 save percentage also ranks second amongst Big Sky institutions.
Holding NAU's back line strong,
Logan Maszton earned Big Sky second team all-conference as well. Maszton has recorded 13 starts alongside 1,182 minutes on the pitch this season. The defender tabbed to assists this season coming against Pac-12 opponent Arizona as well as LMU. Maston's all-conference honors comes in for the second straight season for the Phoenix native.
Dai Williams has made 16 out of 17 starts this season with her efforts not going unnoticed as Williams was named to the Big Sky's second team all-conference after her second season with the Lumberjacks. Williams marks one of three players for the Lumberjacks with 1,300+ minutes recorded this season and has put up two assists with one coming against San Diego and one against Idaho State.
Allison Veloz's Big Sky second team all-conference honors come as no surprise as the senior leads the Lumberjacks in goals and points this season. Veloz has netted six goals including three game-winners in 1,064 minutes. Veloz tabbed her first goal in the first game of the season against UTEP, adding one against San Diego, one against LMU, and three more in Big Sky play against Weber State, Idaho State, and Northern Colorado, with all goals coming in games ending in victories for the Jacks.
Josie Novak was the final Lumberjack who brought in Big Sky second team all-conference honors after a season campaign that brought in three goals and one assist for the senior. Novak found her first score of the 2013 slate at Southern Utah before adding one facing LMU and one against Idaho State. Novak has made an appearance in all 17 matches while starting in the last six matches.
