FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 3, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams had a successful return to the Skydome, with two school records and one conference record falling.
The day started off strong with three Lumberjacks competing in the multis.
Madeline Wilson broke the pentathlon school record, scoring 3,882 points. She earned PRs in high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800-meter. Wilson's jump of 1.73 meters in the high jump puts her at fifth all-time in school history in the event.
Alyssa Colbert broke her own 60-meter record after tying it in the prelims. She ran a time of 7.24 in the finals, setting a new school and conference record. Colbert's time puts her at 12
th in the nation currently. LaTrouchka Duke wasn't far behind, running a time of 7.38 to set a new personal best. Duke also PR'd in the 200-meter, running a time of 24.05 to put her at third on NAU's all-time records list.
The women's sprinters took the top spots in the 400-meter, sweeping the top three.
Kyairra Reigh placed first with a time of 53.87, earning her the fourth spot on NAU's all-time list.
LiNay Perry finished second with a time of 54.73, putting her at sixth on the all-time records list.
Alonna Johnson ran a time of 54.76 to take third place.
Highlighting the men's sprints was
Kyle Smith. Smith ran the 200-meter, earning a new personal best with a time of 21.77.
The men's distance squad started things off strong as they took the top 8 spots in the mile.
Brodey Hasty led with a time of 4:07.66, closely followed by
Theo Quax who ran a 4:08.10.
Corey Gorgas took third place with a time of 4:09.44, with Santiago Prosser in fourth with a time of 4:09.75.
Kang Nyoak,
Colin Sahlman,
Erik Le Roux, and Terrence Keyes finished 5-6-7-8 respectively.
The women's mile was just as strong, with the Lumberjacks taking the top five places.
Annika Reiss earned a new personal best as she placed first with a time of 4:43.97.
Bryn Morley and
Nikita Moore finished second and third with times of 4:53.20 and 4:57.85. Moore's time was a personal best.
Alexis Kebbe and
Meagan Van Pelt finished out the top five for the 'Jacks.
The distance squad saw two other event winners, in the women's 800-meter and the men's 3000-meter.
Odessa Zentz took first in the 800-meter with a time of 2:16.83, while
Erik Le Roux ran a 8:29.01 to place first in the 3K.
In the women's 3K,
Maggi Congdon took second in a competitive field, running a time of 9:48.05.
Jesselyn Bries also had a strong race, placing third with a time of 9:54.70.
The throwers saw multiple athletes set new PRs.
John Murphy placed second in the weight throw with a throw of 20.28 meters en route to setting a new personal best.
Parker Bays also set a new personal best with a throw of 18.76 meters in the same event.
CJ McMullen threw for a PR in the shot put, with a mark of 15.65 meters.
Parker Bays took second in the shot put, throwing for a distance of 16.59 meters.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp also sent a new personal best in the weight throw, hitting a mark of 16.89 meters to place third.
Alaina Diggs placed second in the shot put, throwing a distance of 14.22 meters.
Jenna Figueroa and
Kenashalee Kerr placed second and third in the women's triple jump. Figueroa hit a mark of 12.27 meters to easily take second place, with Kerr jumping 11.95 meters to place third.
Lily Margolis set a new personal best in the event, jumping 11.95 meters.
Also setting new PR's for the jumps squad were
Joshua Bennett and
Sirr Butler. Bennett jumped 6.79 meters to place fifth in the long jump, while Butler jumped 15.07 meters to place third in the triple jump.
