FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 10, 2024) – The Lumberjack track & field team saw two more records fall as they completed their final road trip of the regular season, with the team splitting between the Husky Classic and the Don Kirby Invitational.
The Lumberjacks saw two impressive 800-meter races at the Husky Classic, with both
Maggi Congdon and
Colin Sahlman breaking the school record. Congdon ran a time of 2:02.20 to break both the NAU and Big Sky record and finish second in the event. Sahlman easily won the event as he ran an NAU record time of 1:47.88.
Aaron Las Heras took the event win in the men's mile with a time of 3:58.22, putting him at seventh on NAU's all-time performance list.
Kang Nyoak finished third in the event with a time of 3:58.54, while
Caleb Easton placed 26
th with a time of 4:06.23.
In the women's mile,
Alyson Churchill was the top NAU finisher as she placed seventh with a time of 4:36.30. Her time puts her at third on NAU's all-time performance list.
Karrie Baloga placed ninth with a time of 4:37.14, while
Nikita Moore was not far behind in 13
th with a time of 4:38.86. Moore's time puts her at fifth on the all-time performance list.
Annika Reiss and
Bryn Morley finished 20
th and 23
rd respectively, running times of 4:41.55 and 4:43.58.
Caleb Easton competed in the 1,000-meter at the Husky Classic, finishing second with a time of 2:30.97.
Trenton Givens had a strong performance in the men's 60-meter hurdles at the Don Kirby Invitational, finishing fourth with a time of 7.88. In the women's invitational 60-meter hurdles,
Jyntry Rucker finished 45
th with a time of 8.96.
Rucker also competed in the women's unseeded 60-meter, placing 33
rd with a personal best time of 7.85.
In the men's invitational 60-meter,
Mitchell Effing finished 20
th overall with a time of 6.89.
Khamis Hassan and
Kyle Smith placed 25
th and 27
th respectively, each running times of 6.94.
MarcAnthony Sanchez and
Ian Lipsey finished 30
th and 34
th, with Sanchez running a time of 7.00 while Lipsey ran a time of 7.16.
Madeline Wilson finished 11
th in the women's invitational 60-meter after running a time of 7.50, while
Kyairra Reigh placed 35
th with a time of 7.86.
Reigh also competed in the 400-meter, placing 11
th with a time of 54.24.
LiNay Perry also competed, finishing 25
th with a time of 56.75.
The men's 4x400-meter relay finished ninth, with
MarcAnthony Sanchez,
Joshua Anderson,
Cannon Booker, and
Trenton Givens combining to run a time of 3:14.42.
The women's 4x400-meter relay placed seventh, with
LiNay Perry,
Madeline Wilson,
Hannah Schmidt, and
Kyairra Reigh combining to run a time of 3:40.94.
Brenna Rodriguez finished 18
th in the women's triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.19 meters, while
Kenashalee Kerr placed 45
th with a mark of 11.27 meters.
In the men's shot put,
Parker Bays placed seventh with a mark of 17.46 meters.
Jake Tucker finished 15
th with a mark of 15.53 meters, while
Drayden Allen placed 20
th with a mark of 14.81 meters.
