NAU Track & Field Earns Two Big Sky Weekly Honors

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 19, 2024) – The NAU track & field team earned two Big Sky Athlete of the Week honors following a weekend of national qualifying performances.

The men's distance medley relay team was named Big Sky Men's Track Athlete of the Week. Colin Sahlman, Trenton Givens, Theo Quax, and Nico Young combined to run a time of 9:17.43 at the Alex Wilson Invitational, the top distance medley time in the nation this season. Their time is also number three on the All-Time Collegiate Indoor Distance Medley Relay list.
 
Garret Bernt was named Big Sky Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Bernt broke his own school and conference weight throw record for the fifth time this season with a throw of 22.93 meters at the NAU Tune Up. His mark earned him the event win and puts him in fourth in the nation.
