FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 6, 2024) – The NAU track & field team will send 11 athletes to compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships this week in Boston, Mass. The NAU men enter the meet as the third-ranked team in the nation, looking to improve upon their fourth-place team finish from 2022 which is the best NCAA Indoor National placing in program history.
Garret Bernt will be the first NAU athlete to compete, with the weight throw taking place Thursday at 4:00 p.m. MST.
Colin Sahlman will compete in the preliminary round of the mile on Friday at 2:00 p.m. MST, with the finals of the event taking place Saturday at 2:00 p.m. MST.
The Lumberjacks will have a trio of competitors in the men's 5,000-meter, with Aaron Las Heras, Nico Young, and Theo Quax all competing on Friday at 3:20 p.m. MST.
Las Heras, Young, and Quax will all return to also compete in the 3,000-meter on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. MST.
The NAU men will have a distance medley relay team compete at 4:00 p.m. MST on Friday, the team owning the top time in the nation heading into nationals.
Gracelyn Larkin will compete in the women's 5K on Friday at 6:20 p.m. MST.
Maggi Congdon will compete in both the mile and the 800-meter, with preliminary rounds of competition for the events taking place on Friday at 5:00 p.m. MST and 5:50 p.m. MST. Finals for the mile will take place at 5:00 p.m. MST with finals for the 800-meter taking place at 5:30 p.m. MST.
Mitchell Effing will be the 'Jacks lone jumper at the national meet, competing in the triple jump on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MST.
Competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships will begin Thursday at 4:00 p.m. MST with the men's weight throw. A full schedule can be found on our website, while live results can be found here. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+.
