BOSTON, Mass. (March 9, 2024) – The NAU track & field team concluded competition at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships today, with the men placing fourth overall after scoring 31 points.
This ties the best NCAA Indoor Nationals finish in program history, and is the most scored by the team in school history.
Nico Young earned his second NCAA National Champion title after he ran a meet record 7:41.01 in the 3,000-meter. Young earned his second first-team All-American honors of the meet following his win.
Aaron Las Heras finished ninth in the event after running a time of 7:50.54 to earn second-team All-American honors.
Theo Quax also competed, finishing 13
th with a time of 7:56.35 to earn second-team All-American honors.
Colin Sahlman became a first-team All-American in the mile after he finished sixth in the finals with a time of 4:02.57.
Mitchell Effing competed in the tiple jump, placing 15
th with a mark of 15.20 meters to earn second-team All-American honors for his efforts.
Maggi Congdon was the lone NAU woman competing today, running both the mile and the 800-meter. She finished eighth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:06.41 to earn first-team All-American honors. Congdon finished ninth in the mile with a time of 4:36.71 to earn second-team All-American honors.
The NAU women's team earned one point, finishing tied for 51
st overall.
