Golf Drops One Spot After Day Two of Red Sky Classic

VAIL, Colo. (Sept. 24, 2024) - The Northern Arizona Women's golf team shot a score of 296 today in the second round of the Red Sky Classic. They currently stand in seventh place with a total score of 586 (+10), dropping one spot from yesterday.

Nina Lukyanenko teed off first for the Lumberjacks and led the way with her score also. She made birdies on holes two and six to be -1 on the front nine along with another two birdies on holes 11 and 15 for a back nine total of -1. With a total score of 70 (-2) for the day, she would climb 29 spots on the individual leaderboard to tie for 26th with a total of 146 (+2). 

Freshman Ava Bates also improved on her round from yesterday with a 73 (+1). With birdies on holes five, six, 14 and 15, she would climb three spots on the board individually with a total score of 147 (+3).

Frankie Dezis and Lizzie Neale are both tied at 35th, each with total scores of 148 (+4). Desiz started the round with a run of five pars. She dropped two shots on six and seven before a birdie on eight to give her a front-nine score of +1. On the back, she made seven pars to finish with a 76 for the day. Neale made a birdie on her last hole of the day, the 512 yard par-five, to finish with a 79.

Junior Ellena Slater finished the round shooting 77 (+5) with back-to-back birdies on holes 15 and 16. She stands tied 58th on the field.

Northern Arizona are seven shots behind the next spot, which is held by UC Irvine at +3. The clubhouse leaders are currently Kansas who overtook Sacramento State with a score of -11 today, putting their total at the same number (565). Sac State dropped one shot as a team, putting them in second place with a total score of -6 (570).

The final round tomorrow will be a shotgun start, with all teams teeing off at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Standard time. The Lumberjacks will be paired with Boise State, UC Irvine and Mercer, teeing off on holes four through seven.
