FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 16, 2025) – The Northern Arizona track and field teams are picking up where they left off and will host its second of four regular season home meets this Friday, Jan. 17 at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome for the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
Field events kick things off at 2 p.m. Mountain Standard time followed by the track events at 4 p.m. MST. A final events schedule can be found

Along with several non-Division I programs and regional track clubs, the Lumberjacks will play host to CSUN, Grand Canyon, UNLV and UTSA.
Northern Arizona kicked off 2025 by hosting the Friday Night Axe 'Em open on Jan. 10. There, the Lumberjacks broke two school records, set 12 new top-10 marks, and won 11 events.
Both
Maggi Congdon and
Colin Sahlman set school records in the 600-meters, with Congdon also running the seventh-fastest time in program history in her first-ever indoor 400-meter race. NAU completely rewrote the 600-meter record books, setting five new top ten marks on the women's side in the event and three on the men's side.
The distance events will be stacked with 12 entries in the women's mile led by
Ali Upshaw and
Elise Stearns with nearly the same group entered in the 3,000-meters later that afternoon. The men have nine entries in the mile with
Drew Bosley and
Caleb Easton leading the way along with eight entries in the 3,000-meters for the first time this season. Northern Arizona will also race the 800-meters for the first time this season.
In the sprints,
Sydnie Watkins had quite the collegiate debut. She clocked 8.58 in the 60-meter hurdles, good for second all-time at Northern Arizona.
Jordann Germain ran 41.05 in the 300-meters which ranks eighth all-time in program history. Watkins will be racing in both the 60-meters and 60-meter hurdles on Friday while Germain will compete in the 400-meters.
Shon Martin also had a memorable collegiate debut last week, running 8.05 in the 60-meter hurdles to tie for ninth all-time. Martin will race in the 60-meters, 60-meter hurdles and make his high jump debut on Friday.
In the throws,
Desmond Lott threw personal bests in both the shot put and the weight throw to move up on NAU's all-time top ten lists. He now ranks eighth in the shot put (17.17m) and fifth in the weight throw (21.03m). Lott will compete in both events again on Friday, while
Garret Bernt will be making his second appearance in the weight throw and look to further his current Big Sky and NAU record in the event.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp won the weight throw last week and will be competing again the event this week along with
Larissa Francois and
Ronan Gallagher, who will also be representing NAU in the shot put.
Alexa Hamilton was the lone women's jumper last week and set a new personal best in the event. This Friday, she'll represent once again in the long jump and make her season debut in the high jump.
Northern Arizona has nearly two weeks off before its next event, hosting the Ron Mann Classic on Jan. 31 in the Skydome. A handful of athletes will also be off to Boston, Mass., for the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
