RESULTS
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Feb. 21, 2025) – The Northern Arizona track and field team wrapped up the regular season today with its fourth home meet, hosting the NAU Tune-Up in the Skydome in Flagstaff, Ariz.
NAU will now turn its sights to the Big Sky Conference Championships, which it hosts at the Skydome next week from February 27 to March 1.
On the day, the Lumberjacks won nine events and set two new top ten marks, as
Jordann Germain now ranks 10
th all-time in the 400-meters and
Kiki Vaughn ranks fourth all-time in the 800-meters.
Starting the day with the women's field events,
Alexa Hamilton placed second in the long jump, tying her personal best of 5.63-meters on her final jump of finals.
Jaycie Spencer also made finals and finished sixth with a new personal best of 5.34-meters. Hamilton also placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.59-meters.
The Lumberjacks finished 2-3-4 in the women's weight throw.
Sariyah Horne-Kemp finished second, tossing a season best of 18.70-meters.
Larissa Francois finished right behind her in third, throwing 16.35-meters.
Jamie Jacobs rounded things out with a fourth-place finish, throwing a personal best of 15.66-meters in her final attempt of finals.
Francois also placed third in the shot put with a toss of 12.17-meters.
Both
Sydnie Watkins and
Katherine Lemish made it to the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles, with Watkins running 8.62 and Lemish clocking 8.89. In the finals, both improved their times. Watkins came just shy of her school record of 8.44, running 8.45 to finish second. Lemish ran a personal best of 8.71 to finish fourth.
Shanye Harris was the lone qualifier in the 60-meter finals, running 7.54 in the prelims before improving to 7.46 in the finals to finish second overall.
The Lumberjacks ran strong in the 400-meters, placing first through fourth.
LiNay Perry won with a season-best time of 54.00. She was followed by
Jordann Germain who clocked 55.86 for a new personal best that ranks 10
th all-time in program history.
Taylor Jacobs (3
rd, 56.15) and
Alaynah Reed (4
th, 56.30) also ran personal bests.
Ariel Haygood and
Janelle Sanchez finished seventh and eighth in the 400-meters. Haygood ran 57.69 and Sanchez ran a personal best 58.77.
Kyairra Reigh won the women's 200-meters with a season best of 24.02.
Shanye Harris finished fourth, running 24.48, and Germain was sixth in 24.82.
Taylor Jacobs rounded out the top ten with a personal best of 24.49, finishing ninth.
In the distance events, Vaughn won the 800-meters with a personal best of 2:07.79 which ranks fourth all-time in program history.
Ali Upshaw ran nearly the entire 5,000-meter race by herself, clocking 16:15.83 before altitude adjustments for the win.
Colin Sahlman and
Drew Bosley raced the men's 3,000-meters invitational, rabbeted by decorated NAU grads
Nico Young,
Theo Quax, and Jack Shea. Sahlman won in 7:57.44 with Bosley right on his heels in 7:57.93.
NAU had three qualifiers in the men's 60-meter hurdle finals. In the prelims,
Tyson Givens ran a season best of 8.08 seconds, followed by
Josiah Johnson in 8.25 and
Shon Martin also ran 8.25. In the finals, Givens clocked 8.09 to finish fourth, followed by Martin in 8.09 to finish fifth. Johnson placed seventh in 8.25.
In the men's 60-meter finals,
Lamar Smith finished sixth with a time of 6.87 and
Khamis Hassan finished eighth in 6.91 – each matched their times from the prelims.
Kaleel Galloway was NAU's top finisher in the men's 400-meter dash, finishing fourth with a new personal best of 48.10.
Joshua Anderson finished sixth (48.47) and
Dallas Miller (48.49) finished seventh with a personal best.
Lamar Smith,
Ian Lipsey and
Joshua Anderson finished 5-6-7 in the men's 200-meters. Smith ran a personal best of 21.72, Lipsey clocked a season best of 21.78, and Anderson finished in 21.84.
The Lumberjacks had a strong showing in the men's long jump, placing all seven jumpers in the top 11.
Ian Lipsey won with a season-best 7.20-meters and
Madinko Hawley placed fourth after jumping 6.84-meters for a season best as well.
Jordan Netherly (6.73-meters, PR),
Christian Mutengela (6.70-meters) and
Malachi Marshall (6.60-meters) all made it to the finals as well, finishing 6-7-8.
NAU also earned a victory in the men's weight throw, led by
Garret Bernt who tossed 22.53-meters. He won the event by 4.95-meters, as second place threw 17.58-meters.
Over at the triple jump,
Sirr Butler took home first with a leap of 14.73-meters, achieved on his last attempt at finals.
Jordan Netherly finished sixth with a mark of 13.05-meters and
Oluwatoni Adigun finished seventh with a personal best of 12.38-meters.
Carter Anderson earned a huge personal best of 2.03-meters to win the high jump.
Christian Mutengela tied his personal best of 2.00-meters to finish second.
