FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 20, 2025) – Fresh off the conclusion of the indoor season, the Northern Arizona men's and women's track and field team will waste no time opening up the outdoor season this Friday and Saturday. The Lumberjacks are set to head to Tucson on March 21-22 for the Willie Williams Classic, hosted by Arizona at Drachman Stadium.
The competition features both high school and collegiate events, with the collegiate field events beginning at 1 p.m. Mountain Standard time and collegiate running events begin at 5 p.m. MST on Friday. Friday's running events are mostly distance events.
On Saturday, field events begin at 10 a.m. MST followed by the running events at 11:05 a.m. MST. Live results can be found

Northern Arizona swept both indoor track and field Big Sky Conference titles, which it won in Flagstaff and swept for the fifth-straight year. The men won their 13
th-straight, and the women won their fifth which a championship record 205 points.
Most recently, the Lumberjacks were in action at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships last week in Virginia Beach, Va. The NAU women took home their best finish since 2006 after finishing 18
th. The championships were highlighted by
Maggi Congdon's third-place finish in the mile and
Elise Stearns' broke her own Big Sky Conference record in the 5,000-meters and finished fourth. In all, the Lumberjacks sent nine athletes to the championships. Stearns also earned a first team All-American nod in the 3,000-meters, and
Drew Bosley (5k, 3k),
Colin Sahlman (mile, 3k), Alex Carlson (mile),
Desmond Lott (weight throw),
Ali Upshaw (5k) and the women's distance medley relay team of
Karrie Baloga,
Kyairra Reigh,
Agnes McTighe and Carlson all earned second team All-America honors.
The Lumberjacks competed at the Willie Williams Classic last season and found success on the opening day with former Lumberjack
Madeline Wilson's school record in the 200-meters. The Northern Arizona women are the defending Big Sky Conference outdoor champions, while the men took second by one point a year ago.
After a week break, NAU will split squads as the distance runners will head to the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., and the sprinters, jumpers and throwers will all compete at the UNLV Rebel ELITE in Las Vegas, Nev., from April 4-5.
