PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 28, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team completed the first round of the PING/ASU Invitational at the Papago Golf Club, posting a score of +2 (290) to place eighth out of 13 teams.
Host school No. 9 Arizona State leads at -15 (273), followed by No. 12 Northwestern in second with -9 (279), and No. 42 Pepperdine and No. 25 UCLA tied for third with -2 (286).
The tournament field features six teams ranked in the top 50 of the Clippd Scoreboard rankings.
Junior Lizzie Neale leads the Lumberjacks with her 71 (-1) round. The New Zealand native recorded 17 pars and a single birdie on the par-four seventh hole. Individually, she is tied for 14th on the board.
Following closely by one stroke, junior Ellena Slater carded an even-par 72 with a birdie on her first hole of the day, along with another two on the ninth and 10th holes. She is in a tie for 20th place overall.
Fellow junior Nina Lukyanenko trails Slater by one stroke with a 73 (+1) score, also picking up three birdies on the eighth, 14th, and 15th holes. This puts her tied for 26th individually.
Sophomores Frankie Dezis and Amy Hodgkins both completed the round in 74 strokes (+2) to be tied for 41st.
Competing as an individual, freshman Sumin Kang put up an 81 (+9) and stands tied for 74th.
Arizona State's Patience Rhodes leads the field after carding 10 pars, seven birdies, and one dropped shot for a total of 66 (-6). She leads by two over fellow Sun Devil Isla McDonald-O'Brian, who scored 68 (-4).
The Lumberjacks will tee off on hole one tomorrow morning beginning at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Standard time alongside New Mexico and Grand Canyon. Live scoring will be available via Clippd ScoreBoard.
