Lumberjacks Return to Action at Golfweek Red Sky Classic

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Sept. 21, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team heads to Vail, Colo. for its second tournament of the season, competing in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic.

The three-day event from Sept. 22-24 features 18 holes each day on the Fazio Course at the Red Sky Golf Club, which will play at 6,376 yards as a par 72.

This will mark the fourth time NAU has played in the tournament. The Lumberjacks have made history on the course before, with Elle Kocourkova recording a hole-in-one in 2022 and Ellena Slater following with one of her own in 2024.

The field includes New Mexico State, UNC Charlotte, Miami, Mercer, UNC Asheville, Denver, Kansas, Eastern Michigan, LSU, USC, Boise State, Little Rock, East Tennessee State, Pepperdine, Arizona, Sacramento State, Jacksonville State, Campbell, and UC Irvine.

"We're very excited to go back to Red Sky to one of our favorite tournaments every year!" head coach Brad Bedortha said. "It's a great tournament and great field with an excellent opportunity to show our best and compete."

Competing in the starting lineup for the Lumberjacks will be Dezis, Lizzie Neale, Amy Hodgkins, Sumin Kang, and Nina Lukeyanenko.

Starting at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Standard time, the Lumberjacks will tee it up in the first round alongside USC, Jacksonville State and Charlotte.

Northern Arizona is coming off a strong start to the fall season after finishing fifth at the Lobo Invitational two weeks ago in New Mexico. Frankie Dezis led the way, posting a bogey-free 68 (-4) in the final round to climb 12 spots and finish tied for second - the best result of her career.

In last year's Red Sky Classic, NAU placed eighth with a team total of 879 (+15). Kansas won the tournament with an overall score of 849 (-15).
