NAU Men’s Track & Field Hosting Open Tryouts

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 4, 2026) – The Northern Arizona men's track & field program is inviting NAU students to try out for the team as the Lumberjacks gear up for another run at the Big Sky Championships. The Lumberjacks are looking to add to their spring 2026 roster for the outdoor season.

An interest meeting for open tryouts will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at the Student-Athlete High Performance Center. Interested students are instructed to meet at the entrance of the SAHPC upon arrival.

Prior to Friday's meeting, students must fulfill the following requirements.
  • Must be a full-time enrolled student at Northern Arizona University for the 2026 spring semester (minimum 12 undergraduate credits)
  • Must be registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center. To register, please click link.
    • Current freshmen must have the Academic and Athletic Certification Account
    • Students who have been enrolled full-time at NAU for more than two (2) semesters may register for the Athletic Certification Account if they do not already have an account.
  • Must have time remaining on their 5-year clock
    • Definition of the 5-year clock: If a student plays at a Division I school, they have five calendar years in which to play four seasons of competition. A student's 5-year clock starts when you initially enroll as a full-time student at any college or university in a regular academic term (fall or spring). Thereafter, their clock continues, even if there is a decision to redshirt, if they do not attend school or decide to go part-time during their collegiate career.
The NAU men's track & field program has won 13 consecutive Big Sky indoor championships and back-to-back outdoor titles.

Questions may be directed to Sheridan Cook, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services (Compliance, NIL), at Sheridan.Cook@nau.edu.
