SEDONA, Ariz. (March 13, 2026) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team shot a tournament-record round of 11-under today at Oak Creek Country Club to take first place after the opening round of the Red Rocks Invitational. All four counting scores sit inside the top 10 on the leaderboard.
Amy Hodgkins currently leads the tournament after firing a career-low round of 65 (-7). The Australian junior started the round strong with back-to-back birdies to open play. She added two more on holes four and six before a dropped shot on the par-3 seventh. She bounced back immediately with another birdie on the par-4 eighth. A par on hole nine closed the front nine at 4-under (32).
The back nine began with another birdie on hole 10, followed by a string of three pars. Hodgkins made her seventh birdie of the day on the par-4 14th. She dropped a shot on 15 but closed the round the same way she started, with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18. The round bested the previous tournament low of 67 by two strokes. Hodgkins sits one stroke ahead of Grand Canyon's Alexis Vakasiuola, who is at 6-under.
Fellow junior Frankie Dezis is currently tied for fifth at 2-under (70). The Englishwoman opened the tournament with a 34 on the front nine (-2), recording birdies on holes five and eight. She added another birdie on the iconic par-3 13th, sinking a 24-foot putt,
Sumin Kang is also tied for fifth with a bogey-free round of 70 (-2). The Queenstown, New Zealand, native made 12 straight pars to start the event. She also birdied the picturesque 13th hole, draining a 17-foot putt. Four more pars followed before she reached the par-5 18th in two shots and tapped in for her second birdie of the day.
Lizzie Neale rounded out the starting lineup but unfortunately withdrew after nine holes due to injury. She was 1-over at the turn.
Northern Arizona also has three individuals competing. Nina Lukyanenko posted a round of 77 (+5) with a birdie on the par-4 eighth and is tied for 32nd. Glafira Pomazkova sits two strokes back at 79 (+7), tied for 45th. Ava Bates carded an 87 (+15) and is tied for 65th.
Action resumes tomorrow at 8 a.m. MST, with Lukyanenko teeing off first for the Lumberjacks at 8:54 a.m. MST on hole one. The team will tee off in the following order: Neale (9:03 a.m., hole one), Pomazkova (9:03 a.m., hole 10), Lin (9:12 a.m., hole one), Kang (9:21 a.m., hole one), Dezis (9:30 a.m., hole one), Bates (9:30 a.m., hole 10) and Hodgkins (9:39 a.m., hole one).
NAU will play alongside Weber State (-2) and Grand Canyon (+1).
