FARMINGTON, Utah. (April 22, 2026) – Northern Arizona men's tennis freshman
Jakub Jedrzejczak has been named Freshman of the Year, and six Lumberjacks have earned All-Conference honors, as the league announced its end-of-season awards Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to being named Freshman of the Year, Jedrzejczak unanimously earned a spot on the Singles First Team. Joining him there also by unanimous decision is redshirt freshman
Noa Tcherniack. Sophomore
Jakub Volesky received a nod to the Second Team, while freshman
Felix Neumeister was listed Honorable Mention.
On the doubles side, the Lumberjacks listed two pairs to the First Team, in Jedrzejczak and Volesky, as well as
Takumi Katsuda and
Vincent Vohl.
Jedrzejczak is the second Lumberjack in program history to receive Freshman of the Year, joining Facundo Tumosa who won the honor in 2019. The native of Bielsko-Biala, Poland had the best record of any Lumberjack by being perfect in Big Sky play and finishing singles 15-4. At the No. 2 position, he only had one loss, going 13-1, and pulled off an upset against Denver on Mar. 7th. Jedrzejczak also owned the longest win streak of anyone in the conference during a stretch of 11 matches from Feb. 21st to April 5th, the longest streak by a Lumberjack since Dominik Buzonics won 13 straight in the 2023 season. He also excelled in doubles action, compiling a 14-3 record alongside Katsuda,
Daniels Tens, and Volesky, and picked up two Big Sky Player of the Week honors during the season on Mar. 25th and April 8th.
Tcherniack earns the first All-Conference award of his career. He had a 5-2 singles record in conference play, all of his matches coming at the No. 1 position. In his last match of conference play, he pulled off a come-from-behind second set victory to take the match in straight sets. The Frenchman had an overall singles record of 14-4 and was also named Big Sky Player of the Week twice during the season, on Feb. 4 and earlier this week on April 21.
Volesky performed most of his singles matches at the No. 3 position, compiling an overall record of 13-6 on the season, including a 5-2 mark in league affairs. All five of his wins in conference play came in straight sets.
Neumeister was the only Lumberjack to earn All-Big Sky singles second team honors. The native of Stuggart, Germany went 4-1 in conference play and 8-4 overall. He is the second NAU freshman to achieve All-Conference honors.
Katsuda and Vohl as a pair went 9-3 on the season, including 8-3 as the No. 1 team. The duo notched wins against Colgate, Grand Canyon and Air Force, and also recorded a breadstick against Sacramento State.
The two Jakub's, Jedrzejczak and Volesky, went undefeated in conference matches with five wins. The pair had an 8-1 record in doubles with victories over Colgate, Denver and Montana State, and won three matches by the score of 6-0, not allowing their opponent a single game.
The No. 1 Lumberjacks will face the lowest remaining seed on Friday, April 24 in the semifinals of the Big Sky Championships. First serve is set for 8 a.m. MST and can be followed on live stats.
