Riverside, Calif. (December 17, 2021) - Northern Arizona Swimming and Diving wrap up day one of the Cal Baptist University Winter Invitational.
Beginning the meet with the 200 yard freestyle relay, the NAU 'A' team placed fourth, coming in behind New Mexico State's 'A' and 'B' teams, and CBU's 'A' team. Heading into individual swims, Caylah Jago cam out with an impressive 25.17 in the 50 fly, placing second in the race.
Casey Craffey continued her momentum from last weeks meet at Grand Canyon University, bringing in another first place in the 500 free with a time of 4:54.30. Following behind her was Helena Robla-Alvarez who took second with 4:58.15.
Sophie Velitchkov placed second for the Lumberjacks in the 50 yard backstroke, coming in behind NMSU with a time of 26.72. NAU finished out the day with the 400 medley relay, placing second and third with times of 3:47.23 and 3:50.29, respectively.
The Divers competed in platforms today, where Freshman Makenna Sammons stepped up for the 'Jacks. Sammons placed second in the prelims with a score of 211.70. She was followed by Reaney Preston in third at 210.60 and Victoria Knapp in fourth with 206.05.
Emily Luberto had an impressive round in the platform finals, where she placed third with 230.85. Sammons came in fourth with 230.65, followed by Knapp who placed fourth with a score of 221.95.
