FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (September 30, 2021) - Continuing their fall slate, the Lumberjacks head back to the road for competition at the ITA All-American Championships, and the Arizona Wildcat Invite this weekend.
Eban Straker-Meads, Facundo Tumosa, and Maciej Ziomber are all heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete at the ITA All-Americans. Straker-Meads and Tumosa will both take competition in singles as well as doubles. Ziomber will be competing in singles only. All three will begin the tournament under the prequalifying singles and Tumosa and Straker-Meads will begin doubles play under the qualifying doubles.
The ITA All-American Championships are set to take place Oct. 2-10, and will be hosted by the University of Tulsa.The draws are yet to be released.
Alex Groves, Dominik Buzonics, Chris Steele, Marcus Sulen, Morgan Donovan, Joachim Schaefer, Mikael Purne, and Daniel Dillon will all head down the mountain to Tucson to compete in the Wildcat Invite, hosted by Arizona. The tournament begins tomorrow and will go through Sunday.
Groves will play in the blue Draw, taking on Arizona's own Gustaf Strom. Buzonics joins him in the blue draw to face Louis Menard of New Mexico State University.
Beginning red draw play for the Lumberjacks is Marcus Sulen. Sulen will start the tournament taking on Arizona's Hiroki Sakagawa. Also in the red draw for NAU is Chris Steele who will face Gonzaga's Leon Roider.
Representing NAU in the white draw is Morgan Donovan who is set to compete with the University of New Mexico's Alex Maggs.
In the gray draw for the Lumberjacks is Schaefer, Purne, and Dillon. Schaefer will face Cameron Khan from Mesa Community College. Purne will compete against New Mexico State's Corey Clarke. Dillon is set to take on GCU's Grzegorz Rudnicki.
The doubles teams consist of Dillon/Steele, Buzonics/Groves, Schaefer/Sulen, and Donovan/Purne. Dillon and Steele will start doubles play off for the Lumberjacks in the blue draw and will first take on Arizona's Hiroki Sakagawa and Jared Horwood. Buzonics and Groves will start off their duo play in the blue draw, taking on New Mexico's Alex Maggs and Joel Pierleoni.
Shafer and Sulen will begin the doubles red draw while set to compete against Stanislas De Samucewicz and Loic Van Zeggelaar of GCU. Donovan and Purne will compete in the red doubles draw as well to face Mesa CC's Cameron Khan and Beto Carlon.
The Lumberjacks will begin tournament play at the University of Arizona tomorrow, and will begin the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.
