FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 21, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University women's tennis team was ranked 71
st in the nation in the ITA National Rankings released this morning. This ties the highest ranking in school history and is the first time the Lumberjack women have been ranked since the 2008-09 season.
The 'Jacks have seen a tough schedule to start off their season, with matches against No. 19 Arizona State, No. 31 Arizona, and No. 68 Fresno State. NAU is 3-3 overall, with wins against Grand Canyon University, Fresno State, and UTEP. With their win against GCU, the women extended their home win streak to 24 matches.
The ITA posted their sixth computer Top 75 rankings of the season this morning, with North Carolina taking the top spot. Ohio State was ranked second, followed by Michigan, Iowa State, and Auburn. The ITA bases their rankings off of accumulation of win and loss points, a win-loss record, strength of schedule, and depth of wins and losses.
NAU was previously ranked at number 71 during the 1998-99 season. During the 2002-03 season they were ranked 74
th, while their most recent ranking in the 2008-09 season had them at number 72.
