AZUSA, Calif. (April 14, 223) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams had a busy second day of their California road trip, with athletes seeing competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays.
David Dunlap ran the 100-meter for the first time this season at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing in a time of 10.39 to put himself at the top of the conference in the event. Dunlap's time was the second fastest qualifying time of the day.
LiNay Perry had an outstanding day as she finished ninth in the 400-meter with a time of 53.10, improving her previous PR by nearly a second and pushing her to the top of the conference.
Kyairra Reigh finished 11
th in the same event after running a time of 53.55.
Madeline Wilson earned a new PR in the 200-meter after running a time of 24.10 to finish 13
th.
Alyssa Colbert placed 15
th after running a time of 24.20.
Kyle Smith had an impressive performance in the 200-meter, running a personal best time of 21.51 to finish 18
th in a highly competitive field. His performance will move him to third in the Big Sky in the 200-meter.
Trevor Hook finished third overall in the javelin with a mark of 65.83 meters. Hook sits atop the Big Sky in the javelin and has not recorded a mark under 65 meters so far this season.
Porter Sweet and
Clayton Zupke also competed in the event, finishing 11
th and 15
th respectively. Sweet threw 60.01 meters while Zupke threw 50.84 meters.
In the women's javelin,
Piper Pfister and
Jade Kwinn placed 11
th and 13
th. Pfister threw a personal best 45.47 meters while Kwinn threw 44.24 meters. Kwinn and Pfister are currently ranked first and second in the Big Sky in the event.
Desmond Lott took the event win in the first section of the discus with a throw of 52.68 meters.
Rudy Tapia finished fifth with a throw of 47.96 meters. In the second section
CJ McMullen placed tenth with a throw of 52.06 meters.
Parker Bays led the team in the men's shot put, finishing fifth with a mark of 16.38 meters.
Mitchell Effing finished fourth in the triple jump after hitting a mark of 15.50 meters. This mark puts him at the top of the conference in the event.
Gabbie Hasskamp competed in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. The freshman finished seventh overall with a score of 4288 points. Hasskamp's best event was the high jump, where she tied for third with a height of 1.58 meters and scored 712 points.
Santiago Gomez-Prosser finished 19
th in the first heat of the men's 5000-meter invitational after running a time of 13:51.88.
Annika Reiss finished second in the second heat of the women's 5000-meter invitational, running a time of 15:49.34.
Jesselyn Bries finished fourth in the same heat after running a time of 15:53.19.
Nikita Moore and
Meagan Van Pelt placed 11
th and 17
th, respectively, with times of 16:04.84 and 16:17.42.
Nico Young won the second heat of the men's 5000-meter after closing hard in the home stretch to finish in a time of 13:30.36.
Kang Nyoak saw a big PR as he ran a time of 13:42.19 to finish eighth.
Cael Grotenhuis finished 14
th in the same heat after running a time of 13:52.05.
In the third heat of the women's 5000-meter invitational,
Alexis Kebbe ran a time of 16:30.04 to place 15
th.
In the open division of the women's 5000-meter, the 'Jacks had four competitors in the third heat.
Victoria Gaitan was NAU's top competitor, finishing 18
th after running a time of 17:03.87.
Abby Riordan and Lauren Jorgenson finished back-to-back in 22
nd and 23
rd, running times of 17:11.74 and 17:24.67 respectively.
Skyler Wallace was NAU's other competitor, placing 29
th with a time of 17:52.19.
In the fifth heat of the women's open division,
Anna Fenske finished 12
th with a time of 16:32.01. In the men's open division,
Terrence Keyes and Jack Scherer ran in the fifth heat, finishing 26
th and 29
th respectively. Keyes ran a time of 14:26.03 while Scherer ran a time of 14:31.95.
