FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 29, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's diving squad is gearing up for the spring edition of the Lumberjack Diving Invite this week. The 'Jacks will host San Diego State, New Mexico, New Mexico State, and Idaho for the three-day event.
Most recently, the Northern Arizona divers competed in California Baptist's Lancer Dive Invite at the start of the month. Graduate student Victoria Knapp earned Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Week honors after her strong performance. She placed fifth in the 3-meter event, scoring 276.65, and finished ninth in the platform event with a score of 203.80. On the final day, she claimed first place in the preliminary round of the 1-meter with a score of 295.10 and narrowly finished second in the final round with a score of 287.80.
In the last Lumberjack Diving Invite during the fall semester, the 'Jacks delivered a strong performance, securing two individual wins and 16 top-10 finishes. Mackenna Stocker took gold in the 3-meter (580.10), Catalina Devia earned silver in the platform event (459.15), and Knapp claimed first in the 1-meter championship (604.25).
Held in the Wall Aquatic Center, the meet will begin on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Standard time with the women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter events. On Friday, Jan. 31, the women will compete in the 1-meter and the men in the 3-meter, also starting at 10:30 a.m. MST. The final day, Saturday, Feb. 1, will begin at 10:00 a.m. MST, featuring all divers competing on the platform.
Following the diving meet, the swimming team will prepare to face New Mexico, with competition beginning at 11:00 a.m. MST, also at the Wall Aquatic Center.
The Northern Arizona swimmers most recently competed on the road against Utah Tech, falling 46-48 on the first day before bouncing back with a 204-148 victory on the second day.
Gracie Munk helped secure four gold medals for the 'Jacks, winning two individual titles in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.82) and 100-yard butterfly (56.74), while also contributing to the 200-yard (1:43.64) and 400-yard medley (3:54.19) relay wins.
Casey Craffey set a season-best in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking an impressive 10:00.26 to take first place. She also won gold in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 4:55.42.
Northern Arizona dominated the 200-yard butterfly, sweeping the top three spots. Elsa Musselman clinched first place with a time of 2:03.51, followed by Helena Robla-Alvarez in second (2:04.89) and Isahbel Krasht in third (2:05.84).
Cydnie Perkins secured gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.18, while Francesca Criscione led the way in the 400-yard individual medley, claiming first place with a time of 4:26.84.
The meet on Saturday will consist of the 200-yard Medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard back, 100-yard breast, 200-yard butterfly, 50-yard freestyle, 1,650 freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 200 IM, and 400-yard freestyle relay
The Lumberjacks will honor six swimmers and two divers on Saturday. Casey Craffey, Francesca Criscione, Jamie Dellwardt, Victoria Knapp, Bena Koehn, Rachael Lytle, Kendall Marquez, and Helena Robla-Alvarez will be recognized before the start of the swim meet.
Next up for the Lumberjacks is the WAC Championships, held at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas from Wednesday, Feb. 26 through Saturday, March 1.
