BOULDER CITY, Nev. (October 28, 2025) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team lifted the trophy at The Clash at Boulder Creek on Tuesday afternoon. The Lumberjacks shot a final round of 8-under-par, finishing with a total of 24-under to claim the title by four strokes.
New Mexico State was the only other team to finish under par for the tournament, totaling 20-under to take second place. The Aggies' Emma Bunch and Amelia Garibaldi of Fresno State tied as individual champions with a score of 11-under for the three rounds.
"I am extremely proud of this team and their efforts this week," head coach Brad Bedortha said. "They have worked so hard all season, and things came together well to end it. Today was very tough with the wind, but we played through it well and posted the lowest round of the day. On days one and two, we also played some great golf. It's great to finish with four players in the top 10, especially Lizzie in third and Amy finishing fourth in a competitive field. As the host team, it's always nice to win, and overall just a wonderful way to end the fall season."
Four Lumberjacks finished under par and in the top 10. This marks Northern Arizona's first tournament win of the 2025-26 season, following a second-place finish at the previous tournament at New Mexico State. It is also their second consecutive under-par finish.
Senior Lizzie Neale led the Lumberjacks, finishing in solo third place at 9-under with her third consecutive round of 69 (-3). The New Zealand native had a slow start, going 2-over through the first three holes, but bounced back with a birdie on the ninth, followed by four more birdies on the back nine, including back-to-back birdies to close out her round.
Amy Hodgkins followed closely with a 54-hole score of 8-under, tying for fourth place. After shooting +4 on the front nine, she also made a comeback on the back nine, recording six pars and three birdies for a final round of 73 (+1).
Nina Lukyanenko posted the lowest round of the day for the Lumberjacks, firing a 4-under 68 - just one stroke shy of her career low, which she set in the previous tournament. Moving up 27 spots on the leaderboard, the Russian finished at 3-under for the tournament, tying for sixth place and earning her second consecutive top-10 finish.
Frankie Dezis also finished in the top 10, carding four birdies on the day. She shot 73 (+1) to finish at 1-under for the tournament and tied for ninth place.
Making the biggest improvement of the day, Sumin Kang climbed 29 spots on the leaderboard with a round of 70 (-2). The sophomore from New Zealand finished tied for 25th with a 2-over total, recording five birdies during her round.
Ava Bates and Glafira Pomazkova competed as individuals. Bates shot 78 (+6) today, finishing with an overall total of +11 to tie for 73rd. Pomazkova finished tied for 103rd with a +27 total.
This tournament concludes the fall semester for NAU golf, and the team will return to action in February at the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic in Palm Desert, Calif.
