FARMINGTON, Utah (April 15, 2025) – Northern Arizona's
Dani Torres was named Big Sky Player of the Week, following a 4-0 weekend to close out the regular season and clinch the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Big Sky Tennis Championships.
Torres led the Jacks at the top of the lineup this weekend as they ended the season on a five-match win streak, capping off an undefeated 10-0 season at home in addition to a perfect 8-0 conference slate. Torres and doubles partner
Piotr Galus kicked off the weekend clinching the doubles point for the Jacks, following a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 over Sacramento State's Henry Lamchinniah and Gur Libal. Torres went on to defeat Lamchinniah in singles play as well, clinching the match for the Jacks at 4-0 with back-to-back 6-2 sets at the No. 1.
As Northern Arizona took on the Montana State Bobcats for Senior Day, Torres and Galus once again brought in a doubles victory, this time coming against Dmitry Bezborodov and Andre Stewart in a 6-4 final at the No. 1. Torres closed out the match at 6-1 for the Jacks as he defeated Bezborodov at the No. 1 in a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) final. Torres improved to 15-4 in overall singles play, with all 15 victories coming at the No. 1 slot while improving to 17-2 in overall doubles play.
