FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 3, 2025) – After a week break from competition, the outdoor season continues this Friday and Saturday for the Northern Arizona men's and women's track and field teams. The Lumberjacks will be sending their distance runners to the Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 4, while the sprinters, jumpers, and throwers will be in action at the UNLV Rebels ELITE from April 4-5.
Friday's track events in Stanford begin at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Standard time, with the bulk of NAU's athletes racing in the evening. Live results for the Stanford Invitational can be found

In Las Vegas, the field events begin at 12 p.m. MST on Friday and kick off the meet at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. On Saturday, the running events begin at 11 a.m. Live results for the UNLV Rebels ELITE can be found

Northern Arizona opened the outdoor season on March 21-22 at the Willie Williams Classic in Tucson, Ariz., where NAU set nine new all-time top 10 marks on the opening weekend.
Desmond Lott threw three personal bests that launched him into the top ten all-time at NAU in the hammer throw (5
th, 64.72m), discus (6
th, 55.56m), and shot put (10
th, 17.10m). Also rewriting the record books in the javelin were
Clay Carbajal (3
rd, 64.60m) and
Karim Grissett (9
th, 59.03m).
The sprinters and hurdlers also found success, with
LiNay Perry recording the third-fastest 400-meter time in program history in 52.77 to rank third. In her collegiate outdoor debut,
Sydnie Watkins clocked 14.37 in the 100-meter hurdles to rank 10
th all-time. Perry and Watkins then teamed up with
Shanye Harris and
Jordann Germain to run the 10
th-fastest 4x100-meter relay time in program history, coming in at 45.61.
To round things out,
Josiah Johnson ran 51.70 in the 400-meter hurdles in his outdoor debut, ranking fourth all-time in program history.
For their efforts, Lott, Perry and Johnson were named the Big Sky Conference's Track and Field Athletes of the Week. On a national level, Perry ranks 12
th in the country in the 400-meters, while Johnson ranks 29
th in the 400-meter hurdles and Lott is 24
th in the hammer throw.
Most of the distance runners will be making their outdoor debuts this weekend. In the women's 5,000-meters, the Lumberjacks will be represented by

Hayley Burns, Alex Carlson,
Maggi Congdon,
Maisie Grice,
Agnes McTighe,
Ava Mitchell,
Keira Moore,
Emma Stutzman and
Kiki Vaughn.
Elise Stearns and
Ali Upshaw will toe the line in the 10,000-meters. Upshaw is the current school record holder in the 10,000-meters after clocking 32:53.65 last season.
On the men's side,
Caleb Easton,
Jeret Gillingham and
Ford Washburn are entered in the 5,000-meters.
Drew Bosley,
Randy Espinoza,
Corey Gorgas,
Justin Keyes,
Erik Le Roux,
David Mullarkey, Manny Perez,
Santiago Prosser and
Aidan Puffer will race the 10,000-meters. Bosley ranks seventh all-time at NAU in the 10,000-meters with a time of 28:18.02 set in 2023.
In the men's sprints this season,
Lamar Smith ranks first in the Big Sky in the 100-meters (10.55) and fifth in the 200-meters (21.65).
Khamis Hassan is second in the 100-meters (10.57), and
Kyle Smith is fourth in the 200-meters (21.59). Additionally,
Luke Yruretagoyena is fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (48.21).
In the hurdles,
Josiah Johnson owns the top-time in the conference in the 400-meter hurdles (51.70) and is fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.60).
Shon Martin is fifth in the Big Sky in the 110-hurdles (14.67).
Also owning the top times in the conference in their respective events are Perry (400-meters, 52.77),
Corey Gorgas (1,500-meters, 3:45.97), Lott (discus, hammer), and
Sariyah Horne-Kemp (hammer, 57.14m). Ranking second in the Big Sky currently are Carbajal (javelin, 64.60m), Lott (shot put, 17.10m),
Ian Lipsey (long jump, 7.17m),
Malachi Marshall (7.17m), and Harris (200-meters, 24.53).
NAU takes another week break before spending some time in California from April 16-19. The distance runners will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16-18. The throwers will compete at two different meets in Long Beach on April 17-19, and the sprinters and jumpers will be in action at the Mt. SAC Relays from April 17-19.
