NAU Golf Stand Ninth After Opening Round in Palm Desert

PALM DESERT, Calif. (February 14, 2026) - The Northern Arizona women's golf team finished the first round of the Alice and John Wallace Women's Golf Classic on Saturday afternoon, shooting a team score of +15, good for ninth place.

Southern California currently leads the tournament after shooting -15 for the day. Individually, USC's Jasmine Koo fired a 64 (-7) to take the clubhouse lead by three strokes.

Amy Hodgkins leads the Lumberjacks, sitting in a tie for 11th place on the leaderboard individually. Despite a bogey on her opening hole, the par-four seventh, the Australian native kept her composure with an even-par back nine that included a birdie on the par-four 18th. She went on to add two more birdies on holes one and two. She finished the round at 1-over-par. Three total birdies put her tied for 11th in the field.

Senior Nina Lukyanenko, who began on hole eight, carded a 75 (+4) to tie for 38th. She secured a birdie on the 280-yard par-four 15th hole and another on the 342-yard par-four third hole. With those two, she is tied for 26th in the field in birdies made. So far this season, the Russian has a scoring average of 74.38.

Frankie Dezis and Lizzie Neale both shot 76 (+5) to tie for 51st. Dezis, a junior from England, secured a single birdie on the par-5 second hole. Neale, a senior from New Zealand, carded a birdie 3 on the par-4 seventh, her second hole of the day.

True freshman Lydia Lin made her Lumberjack debut today. She shot an 81 (+10) and is tied for 86th.

Northern Arizona has two individuals competing, sophomores Sumin Kang and Ava Bates. In a tie for 26th, Kang sits at three-over-par with a round of 74. She began the day on hole 17, a 187-yard par-three. She dropped only three strokes and secured 15 pars, tied for the second most in the field by one. Bates teed off on hole 18 and recorded two birdies for the day. Her first was on the par-five hole three, and her second on the par-four 14th. Carding a 79 (+8), she is in a tie for 75th.

The 'Jacks will tee off for round two tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. MST on holes six through eight as part of the shotgun start. They will play alongside Fresno State (+13) and California (+16).
